Sometime a Giovanni Bellini’s disciple in Venice in his early phase (c.1500); later a touch of Giorgione’s, and a final meeting with Lorenzo Lotto in Bergamo….and here we go! We have a painter in the offing with his own style after having work in the workshop of Bellini, and acquiring a gusto for setting their characters against rather similar landscapes –though a bit darker– to those of Giovanni.
His religious works are full of a kind of sacred holiness in which the landscapes, as said above, are of an importance in the whole composition, which, at times, makes a think of a Giorgione’s influence.
